6 Reasons a Rainy Day Photoshoot is a Great Idea!
Want photos outside but are worried that it might rain? We do live in Seattle after all. I’m actually a huge fan of a rainy day session. Weather can create some of the most stunning and interesting photos.
6 reasons to embrace a rainy photoshoot.
1. The Drama!
Everything is more dramatic in the rain. Darker skies make your image pop, impressive cloud formations look cinematic, and the world comes rich and saturated.
2. The Sparkle!
I’m a huge fan of off-camera flash. I use it to enhance portraits in almost every circumstance but off-camera flash plus rain equals all the sparkle!
3. The chance to get creative and make totally unique images.
Whether we are adding fog, backlighting the rain to make it sparkle, playing with reflections, or turning wet branches into crystal-drenched props, the options to get creative are endless.
4. Umbrellas make great props.
Not sure what to do with your hands? Hold an umbrella. Cozy up under an umbrella, backlight it, or use it to frame your portrait. Umbrellas look great in photos.
5. Embrace the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
There is no denying the beauty of the PNW. Add some rain and the colors become richer and more saturated, the wet ground can work as a mirror and it becomes a sparkling, jewel-toned, world.
6. No need to reschedule due to the weather!
I’m game if you are! Before you know it, you will be hoping for rain on your photoshoot day!
These sessions are perfect for couples, high school seniors, and even families (who doesn’t love little kids splashing around in rain boots?). Dramatic weather on your wedding day? Don’t worry I’ve got you. We will make that weather into the most stunning portraits. If you have a sense of adventure, love drama, and want your photos to sparkle then you will love a rainy day session.
